Event Details

This course is intended for those interested in bringing more open source capabilities in to their existing spatial infrastructure. A stand alone OpenGeo Suite compares favorably to other spatial server stacks, but its biggest advantage is flexibility. OpenGeo Suite has the ability to adapt to complement any existing deployment. This course will dive in to a number of those capabilities. Topics include:

  • Oracle, SQL Server
  • ArcGIS Server
  • MrSID, JP2000, NITF,
  • Esri File Geodatabases, OpenStreetMap and MapInfo tab files.

We will also examine different options for client software, including ArcGIS Desktop, QGIS, Google Earth and Mobile options. The class is delivered in an interactive online environment, so you're free to ask questions about your unique hybrid architecture challenges.

Format:

This course is being offered as a webinar. The course material was originally developed for a full day workshop, which included full exercises that students would work through. For the 3-hour version an expert instructor will lead you through the workshop material and demonstrate exercises. Students can either follow along to or complete at their own pace after the class.

While the instructor demonstrates the exercises and works through the material students will have ample opportunity to ask questions and get direct feedback. The instructor will be assisted by an expert 'helper' who can answer questions one-on-one.

The session has a limit of 25 participants, and includes dedicated question and answer time at the conclusion of the course. Afterwards students will receive a video of the session, a copy of all presented materials, instructions on where to get additional training materials and a certificate of participation. This specific course material is only available to students of this class, delivered in person or through webinar.
